Did you try Revolut?

I should have said, I'm from Croatia and I think they don't support our currency.

Yeah that makes it a lot more difficult to find one. Maybe you should make a currency exchange app for that.

Hey, I don't even know how to exchange currency, let alone make an app that can do it.

It is reasonably simple the ecb publishes the exchange rate every few hours http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml?77401b49bf4f97eb32cd209a610cee5a and banks just use that and take off a % for themselves.

You could check if your local bank does online banking they probably have facilities to exchange money.

There are dozens (hundreds) of forex services online. Many of them have apps and I expect some deal in Kuna. For example: http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=EUR&To=HRK (Just the first one I found.)

You could see which offer the best rates but I suspect it won't make very much difference unless you are changing very large amounts.

That is probably the most expensive method.

I know but a lot of exchange apps don't accept Croatian Kuna. I tried all the ones I usually use like revolut, paypal etc.

I was joking about not knowing how to exchange :) But thanks anyway

What I'm really curious about is whether I'd get a significantly better exchange rate from one of these apps than I would at just a local exchange office (the latter would be the much simpler way of doing this for me, so unless there's a reason to go the apps way...).

I remember hearing about one of these apps on a podcast and they were saying how you can get better rates, so I'm wondering whether I could get something a lot better than just a regular exchange office.

I think you probably would - a local office will might only set their rate once a day or something, rather than in real time. Doing it online or via an app means you can track the exchange rate and do it when it looks good. Also, online services may have lower overheads and so charge slightly less.

And, persoanlly, I would say doing it online is much simpler than visiting an office....
