How many unique molecular structures are there in the human body?

Recommended Posts

I searched for it but didn't find an answer. I was wondering how many unique molecules there are in the human body. Not the total number of molecules, but the total number of unique molecules.

Also, have we discovered all of them yet? Is it possible there are still chemical reactions occurring in the human body we don't even know about yet?

I doubt it. My not very well informed guess is that we are not even half way.

I'd say it's  certain that we don't. There are people doing research on that sort of thing

Lots more than we currently know about.
