To anyone who gets acne accompanied with painful lumps, get to the doctor now. You will regret it when everyday you wake up in a pool of your own blood because surprise! It wasn't acne.

Well, the core decompression surgery did not work. I now have to get a hip replacement. At least I'll be able to sit down at my PC for more than an hour after having the surgery. As it stands now, I'm in constant, excruciating pain. :'(

I appreciate the comments. Zapatos, I've heard the same things. I just made the mistake of watching an animation on how they perform the surgery...

You're going to be sleeping anyway so no worries. Plus your new adamantium hip is going to be really cool.

Scientists had to delete Urban Dictionary's data from the memory of IBM's Watson, because it was learning to swear in its answers.

I saw a documentary about Watson - it was on a game show and started swearing for some of the answers like Q-What is Homeopathy? Watson: Bullshit!

I think it searched for Homeopathy and found that the highest percentage of answers to that question were 'BS'. So it spouted it out - they had to adjust it. lol.

brilliant. it's right and it's about the only thing on TV which is brave enough to say that Homoeopathy is bullshit

Yes I was being facetious and tried to use an amusing example. Setting up the bench in a certain way just did not have the same ring as a ritualistic sacrifice, but would look similar to the observer (and blood was actually involved).

A neurosurgeon asking me what the basis is for the difference in clinical presentation of decortication vs. decerebration because he'd forgotten got me thinking (a second year undergraduate student in medicine knows the answer in Belgium). Perhaps neurosurgery is not my destiny, but rather neurology. Couldn't imagine forgetting all the fun nerdy neurophysiological stuff.

Neurology sounds fascinating. I am teaching basic nerve function to Yr 13 students and have to look up Physiology textbooks to fill in gaps left by the textbook. However, back to you. Which career would allow you to go home feeling better about yourself?

I'm looking towards neurology, since I'm studying medicine. It will still leave me enough clinical work and yet also lots of space in research, which is, especially in neurosciences, extremely fascinating
