  1. -- When there is cold weather as in winter, does the atmospheric pressure 'shifts' to a higher range than in hot summer for the same clear sky ? It would make sense, as there is denser atmosphere when cold. -- When the weather reports say as example 'northwest wind' ... do they mean coming from northwest or heading towards northwest? Is there a standard meaning ?
  2. What is not recycled they want it burned ? Hospital refuse ? What else ? The volume of such for the $ amount of such incineration plant does not click well. Let the risky refuse producers install / do their incineration with their $ and do not put the hand in the taxpayer wallet; that money can be better used. Extending recycling to a finer point should be the choice.
  3. There is detergents for clothes washing, general cleaning, dish washing, hand washing, 'shampoos', body wash, car wash, and whatever the industry can come up with to sell more. How much of it is marketing, what forbids to use dish washer products for clothes washing, or shampoo for washing hands - between extremes; as obviously one ihas to be better 'tuned' to one application than another. In the fifties, shampoo barely existed, nor dishwashing machine fluids, and less the 'bodywash' they came up with. Do their surfactants differ that much ? Is there an optimal proportion of water to say -clothes detergent- that works best, or using more will clean more ? There is a trend to use double or more -than-suggested per laundry load. I believe that will only increase the perfume content of the washed clothes, but not the 'cleanliness' . Is that the way it works ?
  4. Which are those foods that produce adversion to you ?, from unpleasant to nausea -----> But not allergy triggering- Mine are Cauliflower Milk Butter
  5. If you tried all coatings/barriers and still unhappy, give silicone bakeware a chance. Perhaps it will work for your desired standards.
  6. Highly doubt anyone here is an astrology believer. And; astrology is not a science.
  7. Hi peon. I find your post very interesting, for black waters only. As stated, the main problem is the sedimentation and organism growth in the seawater intake and distribution pipes for household seawater distribution, which would be needed in parallel with existing potable water. A parallel salty sewer would also be needed because the 'purified' salty sewage ends in rivers that may be the source of potable water later, and salt content is very undesirable in fresh water bodies. The treatment of sea- black water (toilet) may not be much of a problem, as passing electric currents in the sewage plant would kill 99% + of undesirable microorganisms in it, and could be treated by some technique. Grey waters (kitchen, bath, laundry) would become a much less volume to treat, or can be used for garden irrigation and farming with just some filtering.
  8. As I was not able to post there... That very annoying smart vacuum cleaner is not that smart... ---->http://www.youtube.com/embed/xWMkOwq2qIU?rel=0 Enjoy !
  9. Thanks, will try s l o w l y, tomorrow and next day; and will let you know Have a good night.
  10. Hi CQ60-419WM I have not made any discs. As not always initializing, is that something that can be done from the BIOS screen selections at turn on ? If yes, idiot proof instructions from you would be better. I can tackle electronics, but compfusers is another story Thanks
  11. Unfixable wires... well... The ill C: drive is 250GB, over 230GB available (free) The external archiving USB pluggable drive is 400GB, about 300GB available (free) And I have half a dozen clean 200GB drives available to be installed in that external USB drive box. Recovery drive ¿? or recovery partition? unsure. Whatever is typical for such, as a guess.
  12. Thanks. Yes, I have a USB connected external SATA drive with NO operative system, just for data archiving. Is your laptop dead because does not respond to the charger ? I may help you there.
  13. Hi. Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop running Windows Vista Home Basic. Its Western Digital WD2500BEVS hard drive is failing by its 'smart data' report, and before dies, want to buy new drive and reinstall same legal and valid operative system. Have no discs from such laptop nor from Microsoft.
  14. Thanks, StringJunky. It is the drive self test 'smart data' ; a warning on number of allocated sectors. and to expand, it is Windows > Vista > Home > Basic version. I will slowly digest your guidance and see if I dare . Will let you know at some point about success or failure (of my skills)
  15. Hi. The hard drive in my other rarely used compfuser is failing. Does not end loading... Cannot 'extract' the operative system. The data I do not care, has been regularly backed and have it safe. The web is filled with instructions on how to backup the data for hard drive replacement, but cannot find what am asking here. Replacing the hard drive with a new one, how to reload/reinstall my very legal Microsoft software copy that came installed with it? Never got a CD with the operative system when I bought it. It has the Microsoft sticker with the bunch of numbers. Seen it done somehow at PC service shops, but never paid attention. Think it was via internet, but cannot get to it with a blank hard drive. What am missing ? Thanks god I run Linux here...
  16. By time stamp 1:12 on, at -----> Is that way to handle and process lithium metal 'normal' and safe in the industry ?
  17. Since at least 20 years ago, every time I needed to loosen rusty anything, works great ! Pour both in a container and shake vigorously, applied immediately before settling. Edited - added : You got me curious... Just checked wikipedia for Acetone, before the 'Safety' paragraph. And surprised of the Google hits on "transmission fluid acetone" Edit 2 : 30 years ago, I used 'Marvel mystery oil' My household "3 in 1" can refilled has only ATF in it. I use it for lubrication too, and as a wood furniture surface rejuvenator - Without the acetone !
  18. Uniformly creation of rust under equal torques is one of those things that may work well in the laboratory and papers, but the real penetrating fluid evaluation should be outside in the real world. I would go to a seaside marina or industrial plant and look at their junk piles, take your time looking for old equipment with many equal rusty bolts -say a boiler- to perform your tests. Am sure that someone there would appreciate the 'free' dismantling of some old stuff around. By the way; you want an unbeatable penetrating fluid ? Plain transmission fluid + acetone 50/50. I never buy that WD something nor any other 'liquid wrench' products. Penetration ability and rust 'freeing' are different properties of a fluid, if a bolt head seats hermetic for the applied fluid to reach past it into the threads, tests can be of uncertain effectivity.
  19. Hi. These are just opinions, I was not trying to disprove any theories. The rise of hot fluids should obey more to a volcanic effect than to earthquakes, but there is some interrelationship between them. Rising well waters would be highly masked by rainfall figures, seasonal irrigation activity, even dam operations or beaver works nearby. I do not know about other effects, but would be interesting to have real* radon levels data in fault and not fault zones, and in geothermic generation wells, geysers and alike. If California is the most fault active, these maps tells the opposite relationship about radon : ---->http://www.radon.com/maps/ ---->http://new.geoassurance.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/RadonByZip.jpg ---->http://www.epa.gov/radon/states/california.html ---->http://www.lbl.gov/Science-Articles/Archive/images2/radon-map.gif But hey, that is one measurement one given day when the data was collected unless it is a permanent watch map... *And depending which institution you ask, will find differing maps Believe all, or none.
  20. A tenth of a watt could do it too... For longer distances, raise power a little... --->
  21. Carefully observe at least the graphs here : ----> http://apollo.lsc.vsc.edu/classes/met455/notes/section6/2.html And re-think for 10 Km. Rock in faults accumulate stress and heat up, obviously warming its surrounds. Friction during earthquakes release heat. And a guess, after an earthquake, rocks reabsorb surrounding heat to an equilibrium point. The heat propagation from a geological fault is not upwards only, but spherically into its surrounds, leaving only a tiny portion to surface, if any, and years after, if any, and greatly masked by weather. Note that after such tiny, tiny upwards heat has traveled upwards kilometres, encounters soil layers that in turn, propagate heat in all directions. Murphy's law states that the heat heading towards the thermal measuring instruments you placed in the surface will be much, much less, if any, than the heat traveling to anywhere else your thermal instruments were not installed. A sealed deep, deep, and dry cave -with not even human body heat in it to alter measurements- in a fault zone, would be a place to start your research for years waiting an earthquake. The day that such event happens, Murphy's law states that the measuring instruments will be experiencing a malfunction, a power interruption, or you name it.
  22. Is the mechanics of swimming by fish more energy efficient than boat propellers ? Was it ever proved/disproved/calculated ? (As per comparative construction of artificial caudal fin propulsion)
  23. Water, or frogs, or even frogs in water levitate happily. But you will need many $$$$ for the device to work, not just a screw and a little bit of wire... Try a 16 Tesla field ---->
  24. Any electric light bulb can start fire with the glass removed and the incandescent element ignites a proper mixture of something at turn on. An automotive cigarette lighter would last much longer on 12V, but its light is faint.
